Genoa's Aquarium

Genoa Aquarium is the largest aquarium in Italy, the first in Europe for animal species, second in Europe by surface, after that of Valencia, Spain and the ninth in the world. It is located at Ponte Spinola, in the sixteenth-century ancient port of Genoa.

The Aquarium was inaugurated in 1992 at the Colombiadi, a celebratory Expo on the 25th anniversary of America's discovery.

The design of the structure and the surrounding area is the architect Renzo Piano, interior design has been cared for by architect Peter Chermayeff.

Subsequently it has been expanded several times. At its inauguration was the second largest Aquarium in the world. Since its opening in 2014, more than 25 million visitors have been visited, averaging 1.2 million a year.
